Biography

Attended University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Sept. 1977 – June 1981. Won a Commonwealth Scholarship to study for a Ph.D at the University of Leeds, UK , October 1983 – October, 1986. Commonwealth development fellow to the University of Ulster at Coleraine, 1995/96. Organised the first Postcolonial conference at the Armagh Campus of the Queens University, Belfast in November, 1996. In 1999, was visiting fellow to the African Humanities Institute at the University of Ghana; and at the Centre for the Advanced Study of African Societies, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA. I have taught in at least five centres at the University of Ibadan: The Institute of African Studies, Department of Theatre Arts, Department of Communication and Language Arts, Department of English, Centre for Sustainable Development. A life Patron of the NIgerian Red Cross, and of the Boys and girls Brigade of Nigeria. Married to Professor Adepeju Layiwola and blessed with children.
