Biography
Mabel Osakwe’s Intellectual Bio-sketch
This Linguist, stylistician, poet, and pastor is one of a set of twin-girls born on the 5th of November, 1951 to Chief and Mrs Ebinum in Obiaruku, Delta State, Nigeria. She attended CMS School Umutu, Anglican Girls Grammar School Ughelli, St. Anne’s School, Ibadan, University of Ibadan and Temple University, USA. These institutions produced this Professor of English Language with a PhD English Language, (1992) Ibadan, M.A. English Language, (1983) Ibadan, M.Ed. Curriculum (1980) USA, B.A. (Hons) English, (1976) Ibadan, Higher School Certificate (HSC) (1972) Cambridge, Advanced Level GCE (1972) (London) West African School Certificate (1968)
She is well-published nationally and internationally in journals and books. Her Inaugural Lecture: Tending, Bending and Breaking Vagabond English for Global Needs sums up most of her contribution to scholarship. Her Current Research Interest explores common grounds between English linguistics and other disciplines in Collaborative research towards Sustainable Development Goals
