Biography
Professor Ademola Omobewaji Dasylva, FNAL (b. Oct. 15, 1952 – )
Professor of African literature, Oral poetics and Performance. A Fellow of Salzburg Seminar (2000), Session 374, Austria; and Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Letters (2019). He teaches African literature at the Department of English, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He was Director of General Studies (GSP), University of Ibadan; former Dean, College of Humanities, Redeemer’s University, Ede; and former Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan. Scholarly publications include, Studies in Drama; Classificatory Paradigms in African Oral Narrative (monograph). He co-authored with Dr. (now Prof. Toyin Jegede), Studies in Poetry. His collection of poems, Songs of Ọ̀dámọlúgbẹ̀, won the 2006 ANA/Cadbury National Award for Poetry. Recipient, 2009 Distinguished Africanist Award for Research Excellence, University of Texas at Austin, USA, and 2019 recipient, Asante Award for Outstanding Research, University of Georgia, Athens, USA. He is widely published in local and international scholarly journals and books.
