Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger Opens NAL Capacity Building Workshop in Abuja

His Excellency, Mohammed Bago, Governor of Niger State

The Farmer Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago has declared open the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) Creative Writing Capacity Building Workshop which took place on March 2, 2024.

The workshop which was held at the University of Abuja ran through March 7, with participants assembled from across the country.

The Niger State Chief Executive who was represented by a former Secretary General of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Mallam B.M. Dzukogi lauded the organisers for the brilliant initiative aimed at mentoring the creative skills of young people.

“Niger State is with you. As you know, we are a leading state when it comes to literary development in Nigeria and the West of Africa today. We are the only state with a book development agency. We are the only state with the longest-running teen authorship and teen arts festival,” the governor noted.

Governor Bago assured that Niger state is ready to foster collaboration in the areas of artistic, cultural and creative initiatives that will add value to the lives of young persons and Nigerians in general.

Earlier, the President of NAL, Prof. Sola Akinrinade assured that despite challenges, the Academy will contin- ue to create platforms to enhance capacity building.

He said this has become important to ensure that skills are passed to younger generations to protect the future of literary studies.
