Biography

Prof.(Chief Mrs.) Ifeoma Mabel Onyemelukwe, married to Prof. Geoffrey Chukwubuike Onyemelukwe (Professor of Medicine and Immunology) from Nanka, is a specialist in African Literature of French Expression. The widely travelled professionally trained teacher has to her credit 156 publications:126 articles in journals/books, 3 in conference proceedings, and 27 books. She actively participated in international and local conferences with a record of 39 conference/seminar papers. She held many administrative positions and showed excellent mentorship, graduating over 45 PhD’s and Masters. She published actively, immensely and prolifically books in French revered and used at all levels of education within and outside Nigeria. The highly versatile and erudite scholar deepened gender discourse and exposed new trends in African Literature, narrative techniques and literary theories. Her immeasurable contributions to knowledge and humanity earned her numerous awards like Fellowship of Nigerian Academy of Letters (2019).
