PARTICIPATION IN GRANTS AND INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS/PROJECTS: Collaborated with Bob Frith of Horse and Bamboo Theatre Company, UK, in the research, writing and directing of HARVEST OF GHOSTS, an experiment in visual theatre, based on the story of the execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa by the Abacha military regime, a production that toured the UK, Ireland and Holland, 1998/99.

BIOGRAPHY OF PROFESSOR SAMUEL CHINEDUM UKALA

Professor Samuel Chinedum Ukala was born at Mbiri, Delta State of Nigeria, April 18, 1948. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from All Saints Primary School, Mbiri, in 1962; his West African Examinations Certificate from Ika Grammar School, Agbor, in 1967; his B.A. in English from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1977; his Master’s and PhD in Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan, in 1983 and 1986, respectively.
He worked as Teacher, All Saints Primary School, Mbiri, 1968-1970; Produce Inspector, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Benin City, 1970-1973; NYSC Teacher, Yelwa Government Secondary School, Yola, 1977/78; Management Trainee/Assistant Personnel Manager, Lever Brothers Nigeria Ltd, Apapa, 1978-1980; Personnel Officer, NNPC Refinery, Ekpan, 1980-82; Lecturer II-Professor, Bendel State/Ambrose Alli University, 1985-2000; Professor, Delta State University, Abraka, 2000-2018. He is a multiple literary award winner.
