Biography
Hailed from Tsafe, Zamfara State. Born in 1968 in Katsina city. Had my primary education at Kano, secondary education in the former Sokoto state. My first degree in Geography from UDUS, Masters degree in Geography from Ibadan and PhD from BUK. Started writing while in secondary school and published first Hausa novel Idan So Cute Ne… in 1989. Member of ANA since 1995. Served as chairman ANA Kano State Branch for two terms. Served with BUK since 1995 and promoted to the rank of professor in 2010. Have published 20 literary works including poetry, fiction and children Literature. Won first literary price for my Hausa novel Dukan Ruwa in 1990 and ANA poetry price form my collection of poems PLACES in 2019. Edited two books on Hausa prose fiction, coedited over five readers including Readings in Social Science Research. Have supervised over 7 PhDs and still supervision. Was head of Geography department, pioneer director, Bayero University Press. Married with children.
