Biography

Alex Chinwuba Asigbo is an Actor trainer, Playwright, Director and Culture Consultant. He became a Professor at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University in October, 2009. His areas of research interest include, Playwriting, Dramatic Theory and Criticism and Performance Studies. He delivered what was considered an outstanding Inaugural Lecture on the 12th of February, 2013. Apart from the above, Prof Asigbo has well over 70 Journal articles and Book Chapters. He was Head Department of Theatre and Film Studies (2017-2019); Director, Centre for Arts, Culture and Humanities (2014-2019); Director, TETFUND Implementation Committee (2016-2019); Dean, Faculty of Arts, (2012-2014). He is the current National President of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists, SONTA. He has supervised 14 PhDs to completion and is a staunch believer in ‘work as prayer’. Asigbo is also a 2010 Postdoctoral Fellow of the American Council for Learned Societies’ African Humanities Program.
