Biography

Professor Cecilia Amaoge Eme, PhD Linguistics (Phonetics & Phonology), is in Department of Linguistics, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. A distinguished academic and mentor, she has been Editor of and Reviewer for reputable journals, keynote speaker and lead paper presenter at renowned conferences, supervised three PhD and more than fifteen MA works. She authored eight books and over 70 scholarly articles. Her Inaugural Lecture Nchọcha mgbakọ aka… (Linguists in collaborative research with other professionals) was unique; remarkably the first to be written in English and Igbo and presented in Igbo. She has assessed scores of candidates for promotion to Professor. Her research interest areas include Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics, and Applied Linguistics. A former sub-Dean, HOD, Chairman Faculty Post-Graduate Committee, she is a member of many learned societies like Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL), Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN), West African Linguistic Society (WALS), and Association of Phoneticians and Phonologists in Nigeria (APPN).
