Biography

Gloria Monica Tobechukwu Emezue (commonly known as G.M.T Emezue) holds the University of Calabar’s Ph.D degree in English and Literary studies. She started her lecturing career as an assistant lecturer in 2000. In 2010, she became a postdoctoral fellow of the African Humanities Program postdoctoral fellowship, administered under the auspices of the American Council of Learned Societies. In 2018, she was the recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Corporations of New York Scholar’s award. In 2015, G.M.T Emezue became the first female Professor of the Alex Ekwueme Federal university Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. In 2016, she became the first elected Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. She has pioneered many projects and events, including the Igbo Cultural Day celebration, Igbo village, ANA/AE-FUNAI Partnership, Creative Writing Competition etc. She was a member of the University council (2016-2018) and the Director of General Studies (2018-2019).
