Biography
ADEBOWALE, Oluyemisi is a Professor of Yoruba Literature in the Faculty of Arts, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. She joined the services of the then Ondo State University (now Adekunle Ajasin University) as an Assistant Lecturer in 1985 and rose through the ranks to the position of Professor in 2005. She holds a B.Ed. (Hons) Yoruba /History, 2nd Class Upper Division,1981;M.A. Yoruba, 1984 and Ph.D. Yoruba, 1994 all from the University of Ibadan. She was Dean of Students (2012-2014), Dean of Arts (2014-2015) and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic (2014-2016). She is the Editor, Inquiry in African Languages & Literatures, January 2016 to date and Editor, Àkùngbá Journal of Linguistics & Literatures, January 2017 to date. She is the immediate past President of the Yoruba Studies Association of Nigeria and a Member of the Nigerian Academy of Letters. She is a poet, playwright and critic.
