Biography
I attended Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Origbo between 1972 and 1976. Later in the same year, I was admitted to The Polytechnic, Ibadan for basic studies, after which I was admitted for B. A. Linguistics, University of Ibadan in 1978. Upon my graduation from UI in 1981, I participated in the National Youth Service Corps Scheme at the Borno College of Agriculture, Maiduguri during the 1981-82 service year. I returned back to Ibadan for a Masters programme Linguistics. Subsequently, I had a stint as a lecturer in the Dept. of English, Oyo State College of Education, Wesley Campus, Elekuro, Ibadan in1984. Later in 1985, my Department offered me an appointment as Assistant Lecturer. The appointment provided me the opportunity to register for PhD and I defended my thesis on Nupe/Yoruba Endoglossic Bilingualism in October, 1990. I have since been teaching, researching and supervising students in the area of Sociolinguistics. I supervised about twelve PhD theses in the Department. I belong to a number of academic bodies, which include Linguistics Association of Nigeria, Yoruba Studies Association of Nigeria, West African Linguistic Society,etc.
